The Seattle Community Colleges Convocation was hosted at Seattle Central Community College on Wednesday, September 19, 2012. Warren Brown, Seattle Central Executive Vice President for Instruction and Student Services, emceed the program.
This year, inspired by the 50th anniversary of the Seattle Worlds Fair and our Seattle icon, the Space Needle, the District's theme is ǣMoving the Needle.ؠ By increasing the speed and numbers of our students who complete their education and training goals we are 'moving the needle.'

Norths Opportunity Center for Employment and Education was honored with the Innovation of the Year Award from the League for Innovation. President Mitsui, former North President Ron LaFayette, and OCE&E Manager Wendy Peterson were on hand to accept the award. Also honored were the 2012 Trustees Lifelong Learning Award winners David Eberhardt, Business faculty member, and Sara Schoedel, Program Manager in the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, both from North Seattle Community College.
Kay McClenney, a widely recognized authority on student success, was the keynote speaker. Dr. McClenney is Director of the Community College Survey of Student Engagement and adjunct faculty member in the Community College Leadership Program at The University of Texas at Austin. Using videos and student stories, she illustrated how everyone on every campus plays an important part in helping our students reach their goals.
